GREAT NEWS!

Building Project Approved by the State Education Department.

The State Education Department has approved the plans for our Phase 3 renovation project that was approved by our community in December 2006. Renovations are expected to begin on June 30. Summarizing some of the work to be accomplished this summer will be replacing the roof on the bus garage, repair to the bus garage drainage system, installing energy efficient lighting in the Elementary and High schools, security upgrades to the Elementary and High school office areas, enlargement to both nurses facilities, along with changes to the Elementary and High school parking and bus loops. It will be a busy summer in and around the school, so I would ask you to be patient and careful around the school as the contractors and excavators are working.

Red Jacket Students Meet Teen Fiction Authors!

Several Red Jacket students attended the 3rd Annual Greater Rochester Teen Book Festival held at Martha Brown Middle School in Fairport earlier this month. No less than fourteen teen fiction authors from all over the country came to speak, meet students and conduct book signings throughout the day. This is the largest regional event of its kind and drew nearly 2,000 attendees, including librarians, teachers and students from areas as far west as Niagara Falls and as far east as Connecticut! Next year’s event should be bigger and better still!

Amanda Fair, Jazmin Priest and Mr. Daggs seen here with popular teen fiction writer Libba Bray, author of the acclaimed 'A Great and Terrible Beauty' and its sequels 'Rebel Angels' and 'The Sweet Far Thing.'
