Homeschool Letter to Parents
Parents who elect to instruct their student at home are required to submit a letter of intent to the Superintendent. The Manchester-Shortsville Individual Home Instruction Plan (IHIP) packet is linked below. Please complete the first and second pages, which outline your course materials and their source. This plan needs to be completed and returned to the District within 30 days of receipt of your letter of intent to homeschool your student.
You will also find a quarterly report form that is to be returned by the dates noted on the IHIP:
1st quarter – Due November 10, 2025
2nd quarter – Due January 26, 2026
3rd quarter – Due April 6, 2026
4th quarter – Due June 27, 2026
To streamline our record keeping and be sure that your Letter of Intent, IHIP, Course of Study, Quarterly Reports, and Evaluations are all received and reviewed by the appropriate administrator, please mail all correspondence to Assistant Superintendent, Brian Weller, for distribution to the Superintendent and/or building principals.
Also, please note that, according to the commissioner’s regulations, all students must be assessed annually. This assessment must be filed with the fourth quarterly report on June 23, 2023. Attached is a copy of the Commissioner’s Regulations, section 100.10, on Home Instruction. Details regarding appropriate assessments, administration, and scoring are described. Please call Brian Weller at (585) 289-2160 if you have any questions.
