Red Jacket Spanish Students Explore Costa Rica

Red Jacket Spanish Students Explore Costa Rica

This summer, 17 Red Jacket High School Spanish students traveled to Costa Rica for an unforgettable nine-day educational experience through EF Tours.

Several people in kayaks paddle on a lake with boats and a tree-covered shore in the background.

Accompanied by chaperones Mitch Lalik, Rich Rappold, and Erin Gerbasi, the group explored many of the country's most remarkable landscapes, including the capital city, the rainforest, the cloud forest, and the Pacific Coast. Throughout the trip, students had the opportunity to use their Spanish in real-world conversations, learn about Costa Rican culture, and gain a deeper understanding of the country's commitment to environmental conservation.

The itinerary was filled with hands-on experiences that brought classroom learning to life. Students took part in cooking classes, attended a traditional folklore performance, visited national parks, toured farms and coffee plantations, hiked through breathtaking scenery, and even experienced the excitement of ziplining. Along the way, they encountered Costa Rica's incredible wildlife and diverse plant life, making each day a new adventure.

A group of young people are seated at a long, yellow-clothed table in the foreground, while a dimly lit, open-air restaurant with more tables and foliage is visible in the background.

More than just a sightseeing trip, the experience encouraged students to step outside their comfort zones, connect with a new culture, and create lasting memories with their classmates. It was an opportunity to build confidence, expand their worldview, and see the Spanish language in action.

The Costa Rica tour provided students with a once-in-a-lifetime learning experience that showcased the value of travel, cultural immersion, and global education.
