Red Jacket Senior Wyatt Rossignol Named One of New York’s Most Positive Athletes

Red Jacket High School senior Wyatt Rossignol has earned statewide recognition after being named one of the 28 award winners in the 2026 Positive Athlete New York program.

The honor comes after more than 750 nominations were submitted from schools across New York State. Nationwide, Positive Athlete received over 15,000 nominations this year, with only a small percentage of student-athletes ultimately recognized.

The Positive Athlete program celebrates students who go beyond athletics by demonstrating leadership, resilience, character, and a commitment to their schools and communities. Honorees are selected not simply for athletic success, but for the positive influence they have on the people around them.

In recognizing Wyatt, Positive Athlete described him as “a high-character, teamwork-oriented leader… who has shown a heart for his school and community.”

Those who know Wyatt at Red Jacket say the recognition is well deserved. Whether competing, supporting teammates, or representing his school, Wyatt has consistently been someone others can count on.

“Wyatt represents everything you hope for in a student-athlete,” said Red Jacket Athletic Director Dave Whitcomb. “He leads by example, treats people the right way, and brings a positive attitude every day. We’re incredibly proud to see him recognized at the state level.”

Wyatt’s selection reflects the strong sense of leadership, sportsmanship, and community that continues to define Red Jacket athletics.

Wyatt will be recognized at the 2026 New York Positive Athlete Awards Ceremony on Thursday, June 18, at Fordham University
