Eddie Goatseay: A Rising Star in Photography

Edward “Eddie” Goatseay, a 2024 graduate of Red Jacket, is quickly making a name for himself in the world of photography. Currently studying photojournalism at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), Eddie has already achieved some impressive milestones in his young career.

One of his recent accomplishments is earning third place in the Ontario County Arts Council Plein Air Competition, a local event that showcases the artistic talents of the area. Eddie’s award-winning photograph is currently on display at the Wood Library in Canandaigua, where it will remain until Friday, November 15th. If you get the chance, be sure to stop by and check out his work!

Eddie was also featured in the October edition of Cat Talk, the magazine of the Cat Fanciers’ Association. He has dedicated much of his time to photographing cat shows in the Great Lakes region, capturing the energy and excitement of these unique events in New York, Canada, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

In addition to his work with cat shows, Eddie has been photographing high school sports, and he’s excited to take his talents to the collegiate level by covering sports at RIT. He’s also built a strong reputation for taking senior portraits, family photos, and engagement or proposal sessions, always striving to capture those special moments that people will cherish for years to come.

When he’s not working on portraits or events, Eddie enjoys photographing nature, particularly the local Finger Lakes area and Watkins Glen. He has a passion for capturing the beauty of the region’s waterways, streams, and landscapes.

As Eddie continues his studies at RIT, he’s eager to keep growing as a photographer and exploring new opportunities. We’re proud of all that he’s accomplished so far and look forward to seeing where his photography journey takes him next.
