The Cardinal Care Crew put its mission into action this June during its first-ever Cardinal Care Crew Day of Service.

Crew members volunteered their time to complete two community projects: landscaping a local residence and painting a shed for the American Legion. Together, students contributed more than 80 hours of service, making a positive difference in the community while representing Red Jacket with pride.

The day was supported by several generous community partners. Marks Pizza donated lunch for volunteers, and Lowe's Home Improvement provided landscaping supplies that helped transform the property.

The Day of Service is a reflection of what the Cardinal Care Crew is all about. The student-led group is dedicated to helping others through acts of kindness, service, and support both in school and throughout the community.

Throughout the year, Crew members work to make a positive impact wherever they can. They recognize and encourage fellow students, assist with school and community projects, and help promote positive behaviors, academic success, and mental wellness. Their goal is simple: to make sure others feel supported, valued, and connected.

The group's name and mission are inspired by the cardinal, a symbol often associated with strength, protection, and community. Those values guide the Crew's work and remind members of the importance of helping others.

The Cardinal Care Crew is open to any student who wants to make a difference. Current members include Molly Adams, Ellie D'Angi, Raimi Devlen, Ashley Henchen, Mallory Lockwood, Mallory Lombardi, Carter McConnon, Esther Mobley, Kamryn Peterson, Sophia Piermarini, Bjorn Rosalda, Matthew Stratton, Katherine Stratton, and Marissa Wakefield. Through volunteering and service, members develop leadership skills, build meaningful relationships, and learn the value of giving back.

The Cardinal Care Crew is supervised by Behavior Specialist David Pullen and Social Worker Tricia Fooks, who help mentor students, coordinate service opportunities, and foster the values of compassion, leadership, and community involvement that are at the heart of the organization's mission.

The success of the first Cardinal Care Crew Day of Service is just one example of the impact these students are making. With every project they complete and every hour they volunteer, they are helping build a stronger, more caring school community.
