UPK Program

UPK at Red Jacket

Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) is a program for four-year-old's that is available for residents of the Manchester-Shortsville Central School District. Participation in a Pre-Kindergarten Program is not required for a student to be eligible for kindergarten the following year, although it is great preparation for Kindergarten. Children born between December 2, 2016 and December 1, 2017, are eligible. If your child is eligible for kindergarten (four years old and turning five by December 1, 2021), they are not eligible to attend UPK.

There is no charge for the UPK program and families are required to provide their own transportation. UPK classes are half-day (8:45-11:15am) five days per week on school days. There is also an afternoon Pre-K session (12:15-2:30pm) at Red Jacket Elementary School. Each session will serve eighteen (18) children. The program is designed to prepare children for kindergarten in the Manchester-Shortsville (Red Jacket) Central School District.

The District will begin accepting applications (at the link above) any time after December 1, 2020. If we receive more applications than our capacity, the slots will be filled by lottery. All applications received on or before February 26, 2021 will be part of the lottery. All applications received after the deadline will be added to the end of the waitlist.
