FALL SOCCER LETTER MAILED WEEK OF 8/2:
I hope that all of your summers are all going well. It's time to start thinking about fall soccer and double sessions! First we'd like to welcome Danielle D'Arduini who will be joining us as one of the modified coaches. We'd also like to thank Mrs.Falsone for her years of work as a modified coach, and wish her well as she spends more time with her family.
Double sessions begin on Monday August 16th at 8am on the track. All players should bring running shoes AND cleats for the first session. There are two "assignments" that the girls were given in our spring meeting: run two miles in less that 18 minutes, and "juggle" the soccer ball 10 times without it touching the ground. If a player is unable to meet one or both of these goals, they will be asked to return at 8am the next morning to try again.
The regular time of double sessions will be 8:30 to 10:30am and 12-2pm (Monday through Friday). The JV and Varsity team should be split by the middle of the second week.
We have a very busy pre-season this year. We will participate in a "round-robin" scrimmage with Midlakes, Marion, and Mynderse at Midlakes HS on Saturday, August 28th. It will be in the morning. Bus times will be announced at practices. On Monday, August 30th we will travel to Penn Yan for a scrimmage on their artificial turf field. JV will play around 4:30 and Varisty will play around 6:30. Both teams will travel together.
On Wednesday September 1st and Friday September 3rd, we will host the 1st annual Red Jacket pre-season soccer tournament. These games will count for our regular season and sectional points (Varsity). The teams involved will be Red Jacket, Honeoye, Gananda, and Marcus-Whitman. The games will be played in the morning and afternoon. Please contact Mr.Yehl or Mr.Wight if you are interested in helping. We will need help!!
We have one more game before the first day of school. It will be Tuesday, September 7th at Red Creek. JV starts at 4:30, Varsity at 6:30. Teams will travel together. The entire (and still tentative) schedule can be found on the Red Jacket Soccer website. (Listed as Mr.Wight's Soccer page on the district site).
