The Manchester-Shortsville Central School District believes that
professional development is essential to the success of our staff. In
addition to our Superintendent's Conference Days and early release days,
teachers are provided with the opportunity to self-select learning
opportunities that match the goals they have set with their building
principal through the Annual Professional Performance Review (APPR)
process. This allows teachers to target focus areas and show growth by
attending and implementing ideas they garner from the event they have
participated in. We also have many teachers who engage in collaborative
projects with their peers, always striving for improved student
achievement.
New teachers to the district participate in
training that covers elements of instruction, classroom management and
differentiated instruction fundamentals. These teachers meet monthly
during their first year with the Assistant Superintendent to study a
variety of topics that will assist them in their transition into our
district.
We offer a variety of workshops through the
district, BOCES and outside agencies that cover a wide range of topics
including, but not limited to: technology, literacy, 6 + 1 Writing
Traits, brain based learning, learning styles, special education
training, assessment analysis and instructional action planning, and
curriculum writing.
